Sri Lanka is renowned for its cuisine, and Amanwella celebrates its variety with a full menu of authentic dishes complemented by Asian and Mediterranean classics. Three restaurants are open to both guests and non-residents, and unique culinary experiences can be enjoyed in the surrounding villages and countryside near Tangalle.
Looking out over the palm-fringed bay from its elevated terrace, the Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The spacious interior is accessed via manicured gardens and flows onto the open-air, ocean-facing terrace. The varied menu focuses on Mediterranean, Asian and Sri Lankan cuisine specialities with an emphasis on fresh seafood.
Set towards the western end of the beach and shaded by coconut palms, the open-sided Beach Club offers feet-in-the-sand dining at its best. Open for casual lunches, romantic private dinners and beach BBQs, the Beach Club’s menu features Asian salads, Mediterranean classics, grilled seafood with local relishes, and homemade ice creams.
Open from 10am to 11pm daily for lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and drinks, this airy, informal venue shares a terrace with the Restaurant and claims the same panoramic views of the pool, beach and Indian Ocean. A convivial setting for sundowners as well as after dinner drinks and cigars, it is open on two sides with a central bar area.
Romantic private dining can be enjoyed in multiple settings on and off the property as well as in-suite. Relax beachside with your feet in the sand and dine on grilled seafood as the stars come out, enjoy a Sri Lankan feast in a local home, or picnic in a rustic pavilion inland, surrounded by a sea of emerald rice paddies.
In Amanwella’s tranquil Coconut Grove, cooking classes for all ages and abilities take place, offering a masterclass in Sri Lankan cuisine. Down on the beach and benefiting from the sofa, ocean breeze, traditional dishes such as prawn curry and coconut sambol come together with the help of the resort’s head chef and team. Venture out with the chef in the early hours, sourcing the freshest seasonal ingredients from the markets that surround. Alternatively, schedule a class for late morning and enjoy the culinary creations for a rewarding lunch.
Restaurants are open to Aman guests and non-residents (subject to availability).
