Travels in an ancient empire

A time of new beginnings, auspicious feasting and, most importantly, togetherness, Chinese New Year is celebrated at Aman’s four unique destinations in China with all the meaningful ceremony and joyful fanfare this most significant of festivals inspires. Following the lunar calendar, in 2022 this week-long spring holiday sees out the Year of the Ox on the eve of 31 January and welcomes the Year of the Tiger – one of the Zodiac’s most powerful signs – on 1 February.

With food such a symbolic aspect of the festival and integral in bringing loved ones together, each resort has curated a collection of set menus featuring traditional favourites and gourmet delicacies – from matsutake mushrooms to abalone.
