Set sail for the adventure of a lifetime discovering the remote Alor Islands over the course of eight or more days. Part of the Lesser Sunda archipelago, these spectacular volcanic isles lie in the least-visited part of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia’s southernmost province. The sparkling waters that surround them are full of diverse marine life, and dreamy sandbanks appear and disappear mirage-like in time for unforgettable picnics. Expedition itineraries are tailored from start to finish to suit personal preferences, and 11-day journeys can also include Komodo National Park and its eponymous dragons.
Feel time expand with the endless horizon as Amandira slips through the azure waters of the Flores Sea towards the distant Alor Islands. Savour the salty kiss of the breeze and thrill to the knowledge that in these waters, dragons and volcanoes really do exist. Your every need is met onboard, with expert chefs preparing exquisite meals and a PADI-certified dive master ensuring you snorkel and dive the region’s most beautiful reefs.
Begin your journey in Maumere, Flores with a sumptuous onboard breakfast as Amandira heads north to the sandy island of Pulau Babi. On arrival, swim ashore and bask on the fine white beach, and later, enjoy an alfresco dinner under a canopy of stars.
Approach the isolated island of Komba – a small active volcano well known for its consistent eruptions. Snorkel or dive the multitude of lively reefs that fringe its verdant shores, then return to Amandira’s deck and toast the sunset with your cocktail of choice. Another day, dive Lapu’s underwater wall.
The main island of Alor is a cultural and marine diversity hotspot. Discover the myriad tropical fish below the waves in daylight hours and after dark. Ashore, learn more about the weaving of Indonesia’s famed Ikat fabric.
Begin your day breakfasting on a serene sandbank with no less than three volcanoes on the horizon. Then spend your day exploring nearby coves, diving or browsing the bustling markets of nearby fishing villages – the choice is yours.
Hike through the 17 Island National Park with its jaw-dropping views, before exploring the Penama archipelago’s villages – home to the proud seafaring Bugis people. Visit Rinca and its legendary Komodo dragons, and kayak through the mangroves of Tatawa. Bracket your days with sunrise yoga and sunset swims.
